What is the Friends of the Library?
The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization benefiting public libraries. Its membership consists of students, parents, alumni, patrons, business and professional groups, and all persons interested in promoting its purposes.
To stimulate awareness of the Secaucus Public Library as an informational, educational and cultural center for people of all ages in the community. To focus attention towards activities, to encourage gifts, endowments and bequests to support the “Freedom to Read” statement as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights. It shall cooperate with the library trustees, but shall not assume duties or prerogatives of the library trustees or administration.
These are just a sample of the activities, support and programs the Friends provide:
- Annual Mini-Fair and Book Sale
- Children’s Art Month
- Summer Reading Club Prizes
- Family Museum Memberships to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, Morris Museum, Brooklyn Museum and the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum
- Children’s Reading Garden
- Extended Story Hour End of the Year Program
- Various Day Trips
In Memoriam Gifts to Friends of the Secaucus Public Library
In Memoriam cards are available at the Secaucus Public Library and Business Resource Center, as well as at Mack Memorial Home. These cards enable you to make a donation to the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library in memory of a departed loved one. The information required on the card includes the name and address of the person making the donation and the name of the person from whom the library should acknowledge that the donation was made. The cards come with an envelope already addressed to the library. These donations are tax-deductible. For more information, contact the library director at (201) 330-2083 ext: 4011.

Friends of the Secaucus Public Library Scholarship
The Friends of the Secaucus Public Library will offer a limited number of scholarships to qualifying Secaucus residents who are pursuing a master’s degree in library science. Applicants must be Secaucus residents for at least one year, present an undergraduate transcript and proof of acceptance into a master’s program for library science at an ALA-accredited college. The deadline for submitting completed applications and required attachments is 9 p.m. on Friday, July 29.
